So, reboots. Woohoooooooo.
But, this reboot will be in the vein of the original Robots in Disguise series (also Beast Wars II and Neo), this time with some more traditional characters in the roster
The first of these is the Predacon leader: the mighty Megatron! His circuits are powered by Angolmois Energy, Unicron's lifeforce, rather than Energon.
He was created on Cybertron by The Fallen (and given a spark by the supercomputer Vector Sigma) to serve as his descendant millions of years after he had died, granting him ungodly powers as a result.
Using these abilities, and under The Fallen (who had programmed him with his goals) before eventually being killed by his fellow Primes, Megatron leads the Predacons in his quest to dominate the universe. Little does he know that Unicron's shadow drifts across him and his faction's mission, as he was indirectly getting rid of any opposition to Unicron's power...

here’s the shows that i would recommend!!!!
transformers prime: this is the show that im most familiar with, i used to watch it a lot on saturday mornings with sonic x LOL. it’s pretty influenced by the live action movies at the time but they manage to pull off the ideas the movies introduced. it has solid lore, characterization, and story telling and a very consistent tone. it has a movie (predacons rising) that takes place after the series and it’s alright. it has a sequel series called robots in disguise 2015- do NOT watch. it’s a bad show & a terrible sequel. but prime itself is super cool and has a lot of great ideas. the human characters can be hit or miss but i find 90% of them endearing.
transformers 1984: it’s a fun and usually much more light hearted series. often times it’s pretty similar to star trek but with more robot-robot violence. it’s a lot of fun seeing where ideas come from and then how they changed over the past 40 years. plus you get introduced to a WIDE cast of characters so it’s fun seeing them pop up again in different iterations and what they decide to do with them. also the 1986 movie occurs BEFORE season 3 so make sure to watch it! additionally, there are japanese sequel shows to the 1984 series (in order: headmasters, masterforce, and victory) and i personally liked them a lot. they often aren’t mentioned/referenced and I can’t in good conscious call them good but I did find them fun. since you like comic books i think you’ll probably have fun with the japanese sequels since they have some Strange plot lines in them lmao.
transformers cyberverse: this is a pretty popular one and it’s recent. it gives spotlight to a lot of G1 characters. bumblebee’s the main character for most of the series, but you get to see LOTS of other characters sometimes take the main stage, too. it’s a really fun take on the autobot-decepticon war, and it often rocks back and forth between being a fun comedy and an actual gritty war story.
transformers animated: i highly recommend this show, it has a great cast, a great overarching plot, and lots of fascinating lore. the only caveat is that the lore doesn’t match the usual transformers series, so i wouldn’t watch this one first. the only other draw back to me is while i LOVE the main human character (sari), the other human villains are pretty lack luster.
bonus recommendation:
transformers robots in disguise 2001: NOT THE 2015 ONE. don’t watch that. RID2001 is a super fun japanese transformers iteration with a group of really cool characters who have a lot of personality. teletraan is little girl. it rocks. it’s a great self contained story that doesn’t require much knowledge on the greater transformers lore
lore reoccomendation
beast wars: tbh i don’t care for the gimmick of the transformers turning into animals I like it when they’re cars BUT this series is super influential to transformers as a whole. lots of lore is introduced in this series, plus the concept of “maximals”/“predacons” are used throughout other media. it has a sequel show called beast machines- DO NOT WATCH. boring as fuck tbh.
also: the transformers show that’s currently ongoing is called earthspark. season one was really good but they changed studios after that and it definitely decreased in story quality. plus i would recommend watching the 1984 show before watching it.
as far as comics go the idw one is loved a LOT but i can’t comment on it since i haven’t read it. ive been going through the marvel transformers comics and i think they’ve been super interesting- lots of fun ideas!
sorry this was long LOL it’s definitely a fun franchise and i don’t think there’s a show you could really go wrong with (to a… Degree). anyway have fun if u dip your toes in <3
listening and learning o7. jokes aside thank you SO much i appreciate the experienced POV

hello! i just finished transformers one and decided that i want to commit to the bit now. and i’ve seen you talked about watching tfm shows here plenty of time before, could you give me some recc? thank you!!
definitely! i’ll give you some shows to dip your toes into, and then a few to watch if you decide you really wanna commit.
dip your toes: transformers prime, transformers 1984, transformers cyberverse
transformers prime: this is the show that im most familiar with, used to watch it a lot. it’s the show with the best consistent animation and tone imo. it’s pretty influenced by the live action movies at the time but they manage to pull off all the beats they carried with them. it has solid lore, characterization, and story telling. it has a movie (predacons rising) that takes place after the series and it’s alright. it has a sequel series called robots in disguise 2015- do NOT watch. it’s a bad show & a terrible sequel.
transformers 1984: it’s a fun and usually much more light hearted series’s. often times it’s pretty similar to Star Trek but with more robot-robot violence. it’s a lot of fun seeing where ideas come from and then how they changed over the past 40 years. plus you get introduced to a WIDE cast of characters so it’s fun seeing them pop up again in different iterations and what they decide to do with them. also the 1986 movie occurs BEFORE season 3 so make sure to watch it! additionally, there are japanese sequel shows to the 1984 series (in order: headmasters, masterforce, and victory) and i personally liked them a lot. they aren’t required, since they often aren’t mentioned/referenced and I can’t in good conscious call them good. but I did find them fun.
transformers cyberverse: i feel like this is pretty widely regarded as a good series. bumblebee’s the main character for most of the series, but you get too see LOTS of of other characters sometimes take the main stage, too. it’s a really fun take on the autobot-decepticon war, and it often rocks back and forth between being a fun comedy and an actual gritty war story.
getting serious: transformers animated, robots in disguise 2001, beast wars
transformers animated: i highly recommend this show, it has a great cast, a great overarching plot, and lots of fascinating lore. the only caveat is that the lore doesn’t match the usual transformers series, so i wouldn’t watch this one first. the only other draw back to me is while i LOVE the main human character (sari), the other human villains are pretty lack luster.

RID2001 is a super fun japanese transformers iteration with a group of really cool characters. teletraan is little girl. it rocks. it’s a great self contained story that doesn’t require much knowledge on the greater transformers lore.
beast wars: it is a genuine good story, im just personally not fond of the characters known for turning into cars now turning into animals thing. it is 3D animated and not well, but it has a solid cast of characters and once the main plot rolls, it gets pretty good. it also introduces a lot of modern transformers lore, so while I wouldn’t say it’s a required watch, it is recommended for that alone. it has a sequel series called beast machines- do NOT watch. it was boring as fuck and a major waste of time imo.
the great thing is that you can find all of these shows free on youtube! good luck!

I present you Green Dinobot Ranger Gridlock, Grimlock's brother who upon coming to earth in search of his missing brother is captured by Evil forces of Lord Zedd and Rita and put under mind control spell. However after many fights with Dinobot Power Rangers he is freed from evil's influence and joins his brother in a fight with revived Predacons. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Previous/Next ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
His design is mostly based on Green Megazord with few details coming from RID2001 Grimlock.

But the Energon Universe isn't marketed to kids, though. It's for older fans. Earthspark is for kids. They both can exist simultaneously because they each have concepts and idea that strike a cord with different types of people. People can enjoy one or the other, or both. Or even neither. And that's okay! I don't see why it has to be a competition between the two.
Oh I never once said it was a competition, and you’re absolutely right they can coexist and that’s how it should be. ES does have its merits and the characters are mostly fun in context.
…But it still doesn’t change the fact ES is not popular with general audiences, and most importantly children.
That doesn’t mean there aren’t kids watching it, but kids in my area largely aren’t interested. They never bring it up when I talk to them in the library for volunteer work (most of them are actually fans of older/classic cartoons and don’t watch much modern stuff that isn’t anime), and if TFs are brought up at all it’s usually the movies or G1. Kids in the toy aisles largely ignore all the TF stuff and go for TMNT, Bakugan or Pokemon (but to be fair there, it’s the absolutely terrible price hikes mostly on TFs). I helped out some parents with a younger relative who DID want Transformers however… and he wanted Legacy and Studio Series toys only.
A recent fan bracket on Twitter saw EarthSpark be absolutely decimated fairly early on in the polls, so that’s not a great look either. That RiD2001 actually made it near the semi finals says a lot, the recent Omega Prime HasLab reveal being absolutely coincidental.
But that doesn’t mean whatsoever that ES doesn’t have a dedicated fanbase that’ll keep the banner up high, ala the loyal fans of Rise of the TMNT. The Terrans will likely make the leap beyond their show, but be forewarned they likely will just be Cybertron born Autobots or from a non-Earth colony unrelated to the Emberstone. It happened to the Maximals, Predacons and Mini-Cons, it WILL happen to the Terrans. The only splitting of the difference there could be they were built on Earth like the G1 cartoon Dinobots by Wheeljack, Ratchet and Perceptor, but the how’s and whys I can’t say.

Just found out Peter Spellos who played Sky-Byte from RiD2001 passed away today, and I just happened to have finished the show recently.
Sky-Byte was easily my favorite character from RiD so I'm heartbroken to hear we've lost another talented TF VA.
I guess I just wanted to give a little farewell to the voice behind one of the most loveable and campy Predacons. You made me smile so frequently while watching this silly show during my work breaks~

Alright I've been noticing in a fee of your bee vids (decepticons flamboyantly clean forest, and that's not fair). And as someone who's first intro to tf was RiD 2001...I gotta know. Are you watching it? And if you have, have you watched the anime version (if not I recommend highly).
I finished watching RID2001 last month in the English dub I found on YouTube, and I saved certain videos containing funny lines that I knew I could use for memes later. I got a whole stash! The random things the Predacons did and said made the show!
Ok but the real thing I wanted to say about RID2001 is that I freaking love the animal choices of the Predacons. I mean most shows nowadays are cowardly (happened in RID2015 with Grimlock’s creation) because they're like "Oh no, we need to pick animals that kids like! T-Rexes! Dragons! Wolves! Lions! Cool animals!"
But RID 2001 was like, "Hear me out... flying squirrel..."

Favorite show(s)
Beast Wars, Beast Wars II, Victory, Super God Masterforce, Cyberverse, and Animated
Favorite class/group(s) (i.e. Seekers, Scavengers, Constructicons, Aerialbots, DJD, etc)
The Scavengers, the Dinoforce, and The Breastforce. Idk if they count but I also love the RID2001 Predacons
Favorite alt mode(s)
This is a bit of a copout but I genuinely love how G1 Megatron is just a fucking gun. Like here we have trucks, cars, and jets that can just crush someone by landing on them but then the mighty Decepticon leader literally needs help using his altmode. It's funny to me.
Also Dinobot bc he is so cute in raptor mode

So Human Reader has had a terrible of many people that they’ve known tend to leave them, or even just die. And, recently, they’ve been having terrible nightmares about the bot dying/leaving them. And eventually, this is discovered.
So, Headcanons for how TFP Optimus, RiD2001 Prowl, RiD2001 Ultra Magnus, Armada Demolishor, and Armada Blurr would react to learning of the nightmares and the past?
Optimus would gently assure you that he isn’t going anywhere, he won’t abandon you. However he can’t really assure you that he isn’t going to die. He is in a war after all. Every time he leaves you is potentially the last time you’ll ever see him. He does promise that he’ll try his best to stay alive, though.
Prowl isn't all too emotionally savvy, but he tries his best. He can relate with having rather dark nightmares about death, if that makes you feel any better. Though he opts for asking if you want to talk about what ever’s troubling you. Afterward, he does assure you that he won’t abandon you.
Ultra Magnus is pretty awkward whenever it comes to comforting people, but he’s a good listener. He’ll sit by you and listen to whatever you have to share about these bad dreams of yours if it’ll make you feel better. But he’d probably try to assure you by saying that those are just dreams, they aren’t real. He wouldn’t leave you, and besides, he’s one of the toughest bots there are, neither the predacons, decepticons, or autobots have any hope of beating him.
While Demolisher doesn’t know much about comforting, he does try his best and he shows genuine concern for his friend when hearing about these dreams they’ve been having. He can relate to having nightmares about nasty things like death, and he hopes that this might make them feel a bit better. And to reassure them, he’d say that he’s one of the loyalest decepticons out there! And since you’re his friend he’d extend that same loyalty to you. He’d never leave you and he promises that no nasty autobot’s ever going to get to him.
Of course Blurr would at first tell you that it's nothing to worry over since it's just a dream, but then he sees that he wasn't very helpful. He isn’t all too emotionally savvy since emotional intelligence isn’t something that many prioritize during several-million-year-long wars. He doesn’t know all too much about what to say that’ll actually help you feel better but, he promises that he won’t abandon you.
